Our Mission Statement is VETERANS HELPING VETERANS

 

Our Chapter membership is comprised of Full Members (those with verified Combat Service), Support Members (those who have non-Combat Military Service), and Auxiliary Members (spouses of both Full and Support Members). Our Chapter is based in Eatonville, WA and primarily serves the veteran communities of east Pierce County, southeast King County, east Thurston County, and the foothills of Mt. Rainier and Mt. Adams. Service to our veteran community in the south Puget Sound area of western Washington really has no bounds with the presence of JBLM and Camp Murray in the region.

 

Some of the annual events 11-9 participates in are:

• Wreaths Across America for the cemetery at the Orting Soldiers Home

• Welcoming home Honor Flights at the Seattle-Tacoma (SeaTac) Airport

• The Auburn Veterans Day Parade

• The Orting Red Hats Day Parade to support the Orting community

• Providing Holiday Gifts for the veteran residents of the Orting Soldiers Home

• Serve Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner for the veteran residents of the Orting Soldiers Home

• Host bingo a bi-monthly Bingo Night at the Orting Soldiers Home, providing prizes to winners

• Perform minor house repairs, yard clean up, wheelchair ramp construction, and other as needed projects around a veteran’s home

• Providing and installing lighted flag poles and U.S. flags at veteran’s homes

• Raise Awareness about those with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury, (TBI), Veteran Suicide (22 Per Day), and other Combat Related Medical Conditions

• Support homeless veterans at the Tacoma Dome Veterans Resource Fair

• Olympia Toy Run
